Defining the D.I.P. Peninsula

D.I.P. = Dauphin Island Parkway. An Alabama State Highway that runs through the D.I.P. Community in Mobile Alabama.

Peninsula = pen·in·su·la * pəˈninsələ * noun * a piece of land almost surrounded by water or projecting out into a body of water.

The D.I.P. Peninsula’s eastern shoreline runs along Mobile Bay. Dog River flows along its western and southern riverbanks. Interstate 10 and Brookley Field separates the community from the northern connection to Mobile Alabama.

The Peninsula of Mobile is the largest waterfront residential community in the City of Mobile.

Over 11,000 people live on the 9.2 square mile peninsula many call “The Parkway” or simply “D.I.P.”

There is a growing interest to improve the community we chose to live in, play in, fish in, work in, pray in, learn in and take pride in.

The 36605 D.I.P. Peninsula Magazine intends to promote improvement efforts and praise community accomplishments.

Since we don’t own a Crystal Ball, we encourage area residents to contribute to future articles by using our Suggestion Box.

We are interested in why you chose to live in, play in, fish in, work in, pray in, learn in and take pride in our DIP Peninsula.

We want to know about upcoming events, see your photographs and hear how you enjoyed the water, the food, the sports, and other events you and your family experienced in our community.

The D.I.P. Peninsula is a community somewhat isolated from the rest of Mobile and has developed its own unique character.

The 36605 D.I.P. Peninsula Magazine is committed to bringing our community together by spotlighting what we consider important.

We consider our community to consist of those who currently live in the area, those who moved away, and those who intend to move onto our peninsula.

Make sure you bookmark our website and contribute by using our Suggestion Box.
